Techniques to help you lead a more healthy lifestyle
Our austin chiropractor employs a wide range of proven techniques for each individual case. Below, you’ll find a brief explanation of the popular chiropractic techniques we utilize at our practice.
Active Release Technique (ART)
ART is a state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique used at Austin Oak Hill Chiropractic Center that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.
Chiropractic Adjustment
The goal of a chiropractic adjustment, otherwise known as spinal manipulation, is to correct subluxations found along the spine. The chiropractor will place pressure with his/her palms to the areas that are not aligned properly. This quick and forceful motion will place the subluxations back into their proper positioning. The role of the chiropractic treatment is to open the vertebrae so the nerve can function more freely. When muscles connect to the vertebrae, they tend to pull the back bone out of alignment which causes pain. There are many different ways to do a spinal adjustment and each chiropractor tends to do it differently than the other. Some may ask their patients to sit up, while others will ask them to lie down. Our skilled chiropractor uses stationary tables along with movable tables to achieve the precise adjustment.
Acupuncture
The oak hill chiropractorat this facility cares for patients who have sports injuries, auto injuries, or those experiencing work related stress and strain. Acupuncture and chiropractic care have become alternative methods to pain pills that can lead to addiction and mask the problem instead of curing it. Whether the patient is experiencing chronic or acute pain, the Chiropractor at Austin Oak Hill Chiropractic Center will treat the patient to meet their medical needs. The Chiropractor will relieve their patients of painful joints, muscle spasms, dizziness, headaches, numbness and tingling. Chiropractors focus on patients who experience headaches, back pain and injuries, while acupuncturists try to reduce pain or use techniques to at least manage pain. Different types of treatment include acupuncture, acupressure and Chinese medicine. Dr. Shaddock will be acupuncture board certified in the state of Texas in April of 2011.
Massage
Sports massage has become very popular in the athletic world to help athletes maintain a healthy lifestyle. The healthier an athlete’s body is, the less likely they are to become injured. Athletes turn to sports massage therapy to prevent injuries and enhance their performance. Here at Austin Oak Hill Chiropractic Center, all of our patients undergo some type of soft tissue massage to better help with the chiropractic manipulation.
Most dripping springs chiropractor seem to push long term treatment plans, so if you decide to travel to Oak Hill, rest assured this will not be the case.
